February 2024 – February 2025 “Addressing the Problem of Highly Hazardous Pesticides”
Objectives:
- Bring the issue of HHPs, in particular acetochlor, lambda cyhalothrin and chlorpyriphos to the agenda of Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Economy (Department of Agriculture), and other related authorities through raising awareness campaign, lobbying of focal points of RC and POPs Conventions and interested stakeholders.
- Contribute to a ban on certain hazardous HHPs in particular acetochlor, lambda cyhalothrin and chlorpyriphos in order to protect human health and the environment through capacity building campaign among farmers of the Armavir, Ararat, Syunik and Kotayk provinces.

Roundtable discussion
On October 10, 2024, the Rural Sustainable Development Agricultural Foundation (RSDAF) and Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment NGO (AWHHE) held a roundtable discussion on the use of highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs) in Armenia, including chlorpyrifos, which has been linked to brain damage in children. Despite being banned in dozens of countries, chlorpyrifos is still widely used in Armenia. Experts called for immediate action to ban these toxic chemicals and transition to safer agricultural practices.

- Բարձր վտանգավորության թունաքիմիկատների (ԲՎԹ-ներ), մասնավորապես` ացետոքլորի, լյամբդա – ցիհալոտրինի և քլորպիրիֆոսի հարցը մտցնել շրջակա միջավայրի նախարարության, էկոնոմիկայի նախարարության (գյուղատնտեսության վարչություն) և հարակից այլ մարմինների օրակարգ՝ իրազեկման քարոզարշավի, Ռոտերդամի կոնվենցիայի և ԿՕԱ-ների մասին կոնվենցիաների ազգային համակարգող մարմինների և շահագրգիռ կողմերի նկատմամբ լոբբինգի իրականացման միջոցով
- Նպաստել որոշ վտանգավոր ԲՎԹ-ների, մասնավորապես՝ ացետոքլորի, լյամբդա – ցիհալոտրինի և քլորպիրիֆոսի արգելմանը՝ մարդու առողջության և շրջակա միջավայրի պաշտպանության համար՝ Արմավիրի, Արարատի, Սյունիքի և Կոտայքի մարզերի ֆերմերների կարողությունների զարգացման քարոզարշավի միջոցով
